Gord gets wet and wild

If I'm ever going to complete this cycle ride without half killing myself I am going to have to get some serious bike-miles under my belt.

Opportunity came knocking this morning when Sarah asked me to deliver some business Christmas cards to customers in and around Swanage. So left the car at home and headed off on the 40 mile round trip. The weather was half reasonable when I left home but by the time I reached Corfe the rain had set in, closely followed by the wind which seemed to be doing everything it could to blow me into a ditch.

View of Corfe Castle in the distance . Check out that moody skyline.

Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT)

The Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) is a UK-wide charity offering support, information and training on acquired brain injury in children.
The impact of acquired brain injury on a child and family is enormous and lifelong.
Families are often unprepared to deal with the issues and often unaware of the services their child will need or how to access them.
Families remain at the heart of CBIT's work.
Sarah made a call to CBIT today, just to touch base with them and tell them about my cycle ride for their charity. Rachel Ritter - Fundraising Manager was extreamly pleased to hear about the 6 of us and our cycle challenge. CBIT are sending out some fund raising packs and t 'shirts for us to wear while we are out training on the bikes.

Lets start at the very begining

Yes I really am going to do this!
I know you are all laughing but I've bought the bike and worn Andrews all-in-one padded spandex suit (cant think why he dosnt want it back) so I HAVE to go through with it now!

The London to Paris Cycle Ride is an amazing charity challenge starting from the UK's capital, through the English countryside over to rural France and on to the heart of Paris, finishing under the Eiffel Tower!

Cycling over 5 days I will cover nearly 500km. A challenge like this is not just about distances covered and start and finishing points, the bike ride is about group effort, friendship and more importantly spirit. Cycling alongside me (or more than likely wayyyy ahead of me) will be my good friends, Tom Dillon, Andrew Blakesley, Chris Speer and Steve Sanderson (as long as his broken achillies has healed in time).

I am now 5 months into my training and have lost 2 stone in weight so far! I try and cycle or train at the gym, two or three times a week, so if you see me out and about puffing and panting on my trusty steed give me a wave of encouragement.
